Maureen Muggeridge spent over 30 years’ working in mining, with her time being almost exclusively in diamond exploration; she was credited with leading the exploration team who found the world’s largest diamond deposit in 1979 in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. 

Maureen was seen as a trailblazer in diamond exploration and received international recognition, particularly for her thorough and careful application of exploration sampling techniques, leading to roles including Director of Exploration at Moonstone Diamond Corporation, and Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at Paramount Mining Corporation which she established in 2002.

Maureen received this Lifetime Achievement award after her sudden passing while sampling at Napier Downs station.
